Halloween Treats to Make at Home with Your Child

With Halloween around the corner, children get excited about treats and candies, costumes, and trick or treating.

The following ideas on Halloween treats to make at home will get you into the mood and help bond with your children while celebrating Halloween.

1. Halloween Inspired Breakfast

Mornings have a unique role in most families’ daily routines. The morning routine helps spend quality time together and sets the tone for the day.

Kick-off Halloween with a holiday-inspired and healthy breakfast and surprise your family with some Halloween treats for kids.

Halloween Pancakes and Waffles

Make green, purple, black, or orange pancakes or waffles (add food coloring to your dough) and use Halloween dough molds to cut out pumpkins, ghosts, skulls, bats, and other holiday-themed shapes.

Provide jelly beans, marshmallows, chocolate chips, berries, etc., and encourage your kids to decorate Halloween-themed waffles and pancakes.

Serve with orange juice, pumpkin chocolate, or Frankenstein matcha smoothie.

2. Fun Snacks

To make October in your home more festive, bake Halloween-themed snacks with your kids. Halloween treats for toddlers can be a great way to encourage picky eaters to try new snacks.

Fun Ghost Pizza Pitas

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 degrees Celsius).
  2. Use pita bread rounds and split them in half horizontally.
  3. Spread a thin layer of tomato paste over it.
  4. Cut mozzarella slices into ghost shapes and top the pitas.
  5. Cut black olives into tiny pieces for the eyes.
  6. Bake shortly until mozzarella ghosts start melting and serve.

Banana Ghosts and Tangerine Pumpkins

Throw in some fruits and encourage your children to create fun Halloween treats for toddlers. For example, help them make spooky fruit ghosts – cut bananas in half, add chocolate chips for eyes, and you have your ghosts ready.

Peel tangerines and leave them whole. Then, cut celery sticks into small pieces for your toddler to add them as “pumpkin stalks.”

3. Halloween Desserts

Monster Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make cookies out of premade cookie dough. Divide dough into three bowls and add food dye of a different color to each bowl.
  3. Roll colored dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the baking sheet 2” apart. Bake until the tops have slightly cracked.
  4. Stick candy eyeballs all over warm cookies.
  5. Let cool before serving.

To celebrate fall, you can also make your own cookie dough and add pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice to it. Pumpkin flavor will boost fall vibes in your home and make it smell delicious.

Brownie Bat Truffles

To make brownie bat truffles, use brownies that you crumbled by hand and mix in chocolate frosting. Encourage your toddler to use a cookie scoop to roll the mixture into small balls. Insert halved Oreo cookies on each side for wings and stick candy eyeballs. Freeze for two hours before serving.
